About Us

We are a slow fashion brand with a mission to create a new sustainable standard for accessories. All our products, which include scrunchies, oversized scrunchies, headbands, bandanas, hair scarves, bucket hats, bags, face masks and pillows are handmade in Vancouver, Canada from naturally derived, biodegradable remnant and vintage deadstock fabrics.

HOW IT ALL

STARTED

It all started with a interest in fashion and a passion for sustainability. My co-founder and I were certain we wanted to create an apparel brand, but we weren’t sure about the specific products...

Our Story

One sunny morning I was practicing yoga at home when my two cats named Charlie and Paisley decided that my hair was one of their play things. While I was in cat pose with multiple little claws pulling at my hair, I first had the thought to make a sustainable yet fashionable hair accessory to protect my pretty locks from my cats and to make it through my morning yoga practice. And that is how we decided to focus on hair accessories specifically!

our mission

Create a new sustainable standard for hair accessories.

Mission

Our mission as a slow fashion brand is to create a new, sustainable standard for fashion accessories.

Currently, most fashion accessories are made from poor quality non-biodegradable fabrics and by the means of exploitive production. Many of the hair accessories on the market are considered fast fashion products, meaning they go out of style very quickly and are sent to the landfill shortly after, where they take decades if not centuries to decomposed; or is incinerated, which contributes to carbon emissions. Waste Reduction Week Canada reports that an average Canadian sends to the landfill about 40kg of textiles a year and that less than 1% of this these textiles can be recycled.

We decided that would like to change this pattern by creating a new sustainable standard for fashion accessories. We intend to do this by using only sustainable or deadstock fabrics, by increasing the product quality, ensuring fair trade means of production, and having timeless designs that place the hair accessory at the centre of every outfit.
